Creates Fantasy into a Reality and Reality into a Fantasy
An old home in the suburbs of Sydney needed some simple restyling for selling, utilising the furniture of the current tenants, while adding a few feature walls here and there.
This two bedroom duplex hadn’t been renovated since the orange marble effect loop pile carpet was laid and had a lot of DIY improvements over the years.
A lick of paint, new flooring, small adjustments to the kitchen and bathroom, turned this dated little duplex into a funky seaside retreat.
Main Living Area
A complete transformation of the combined kitchen and living area. The exposed beams were painted, the retro kitchen facade was remodelled into a larger bench and revived with a new coating, carpets ripped up and a new splash back.
Bathroom
A bathroom renovation on a budget, turned this dated, DIY styled bathroom with old 70’s bathroom fittings and later safety railings into a boho themed bathroom, with mosaic tiles covering the drilled hole fillings, a new vanity unit with bamboo bench top, sprayed window frames, new bathroom fittings. Total Cost: $820
Master Bedroom
Carpet so old, it was worn down to the woven backing, fresh coat of paint on walls and sliding doors.
An old 70’s three bedroom house in Kings Beach needed alot of TLC to restyle it before selling. New paint on the walls and some second hand furniture created a lovely fresh new look to inspire potential buyers.
Open Plan Eat In Kitchen
Taking the inspiration from one existing tiny green lamp shade in the kitchen, I chose a soft muted green for the kitchen area, which extended through to the living area on soft furnishings
Master Bedroom – The Red Room
A complete transformation, utilising the left over paint left in the house by previous tenants and the colourful bedspread as the feature item for inspiration. Strong colours aren’t every ones cup of tea, but in this case, it was a choice between lying in bed looking at floor to ceiling RED cupboards or having the red wall behind you as a backdrop.
The bed placement is also utilised as a bed head, draped in soft white chiffon curtains, that have red, blue and yellow tassels to match the bed spread.
Second Bedroom – The Shabby Chic Room
This mixed matched grubby room, has wooden blinds, soft pastel textured wallpaper and grubby carpet. Using the wooden blinds and delicate wall paper as the inspiration, I have created a retro beach theme. Second hand cane side tables with small decorative vintage items adds that delicate touch.
Third Bedroom – The Kmart Room
Like all old houses, this room was dodgy. The curtains fell down when I went to open them. You have to laugh. A light grey tone on the walls, dark blockout curtains, grey toned geometric patterns on the soft furnishings, earthy wood furniture to blend in with the polished wooden floor boards and a splash of colour in the artworks.
